Her regional focus lies in Eastern African and the Arabian Peninsula. She received her PhD in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. Fay\\u2019s central research areas span (1.) the intersections of the formations of local feminist praxis and gender-based colonial violence in Tanzania (feminisms\\\/colonialism), (2.) constructions of childhood and protection in contexts of international development in Zanzibar (childhood\\\/international development), and (3.) the relationship between gender and language in the Swahili-speaking diaspora in Oman (language\\\/belonging). The theoretical fields of Political Anthropology, Feminist Theory, and Indian Ocean Studies frame these endeavours.    &lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n\\n\\n\\n&lt;p&gt;In her current research Fay works with the German colonial records in the Tanzania National Archive in Dar es Salaam to explore the interplay of sexual violence, witnessing, and social justice in the context of the (post)colonial relationship between Tanzania and Germany. At JGU Mainz she teaches, among other things, Political Anthropology, African Feminisms, Anthropology and Development, Decolonizing Anthropology, Writing Ethnography, Ethnography of East Africa, and Her regional focus lies in Eastern African and the Arabian Peninsula. She received her PhD in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. Fay\u2019s central research areas span (1.) the intersections of the formations of local feminist praxis and gender-based colonial violence in Tanzania (feminisms\/colonialism), (2.) constructions of childhood and protection in contexts of international development in Zanzibar (childhood\/international development), and (3.) the relationship between gender and language in the Swahili-speaking diaspora in Oman (language\/belonging). The theoretical fields of Political Anthropology, Feminist Theory, and Indian Ocean Studies frame these endeavours.    <\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>In her current research Fay works with the German colonial records in the Tanzania National Archive in Dar es Salaam to explore the interplay of sexual violence, witnessing, and social justice in the context of the (post)colonial relationship between Tanzania and Germany. At JGU Mainz she teaches, among other things, Political Anthropology, African Feminisms, Anthropology and Development, Decolonizing Anthropology, Writing Ethnography, Ethnography of East Africa, and
