As head of the project &lt;a href=\\&quot;https:\\\/\\\/www.ifeas.uni-mainz.de\\\/forschung\\\/policing\\\/\\&quot;&gt;\\&quot;Policing as a practice of categorisation\\&quot;&lt;\\\/a&gt;, he and his team examine how people perceive and classify each other during control and surveillance activities in public spaces \\u2013 and what consequences these ascriptions have. His ethnographic fieldwork has taken him from Ghana and Kenya through India to Germany. In doing so, he connects innovative thematic fields: police work, bureaucratic structures, the anthropology of fraud, and transnational processes. His research projects are designed as ethnographic team research that incorporates methodologically pluralistic approaches and diverse perspectives.    &lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n\\n\\n\\n&lt;p&gt;Through his publications, he has contributed to the development of three new research fields: the ethnographic study of police in Africa (edited volume &lt;em&gt;Police in Africa)&lt;\\\/em&gt;, the anthropology of defrauding (Special Section \\&quot;Anthropology of defrauding and faking\\&quot; in &lt;em&gt;Social Anthropology&lt;\\\/em&gt;) and the study of police work in multicultural societies (Special Issue &lt;em&gt;Sociologus&lt;\\\/em&gt;, collection &lt;em&gt;Policing Race, Ethnicity and Culture&lt;\\\/em&gt;). In his book &lt;em&gt;Stateness: Police work in Ghana&lt;\\\/em&gt;, he analyzes the production of stateness in everyday life. He regularly publishes his findings in renowned academic journals such as Africa, Ethnography, Journal of Modern African Studies, and Social Anthropology. His work has been recognized with multiple awards, most recently the Franz-Xaver-Kaufmann Prize from the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Bielefeld and the Thomas A. As head of the project <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifeas.uni-mainz.de\/forschung\/policing\/\">\"Policing as a practice of categorisation\"<\/a>, he and his team examine how people perceive and classify each other during control and surveillance activities in public spaces \u2013 and what consequences these ascriptions have. His ethnographic fieldwork has taken him from Ghana and Kenya through India to Germany. In doing so, he connects innovative thematic fields: police work, bureaucratic structures, the anthropology of fraud, and transnational processes. His research projects are designed as ethnographic team research that incorporates methodologically pluralistic approaches and diverse perspectives.    <\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"translatedWithWPMLTM\":\"1\"} -->\n<p>Through his publications, he has contributed to the development of three new research fields: the ethnographic study of police in Africa (edited volume <em>Police in Africa)<\/em>, the anthropology of defrauding (Special Section \"Anthropology of defrauding and faking\" in <em>Social Anthropology<\/em>) and the study of police work in multicultural societies (Special Issue <em>Sociologus<\/em>, collection <em>Policing Race, Ethnicity and Culture<\/em>). In his book <em>Stateness: Police work in Ghana<\/em>, he analyzes the production of stateness in everyday life. He regularly publishes his findings in renowned academic journals such as Africa, Ethnography, Journal of Modern African Studies, and Social Anthropology. His work has been recognized with multiple awards, most recently the Franz-Xaver-Kaufmann Prize from the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Bielefeld and the Thomas A.
