Inhalt
The protagonists of comics and graphic novels and their experiences are often not only intended to entertain readers – children as well as adults – but also fulfil a number of educational objectives.In this seminar course, we will examine selected works to explore how artists from Africa employ the protagonists of their comics and graphic novels to convey a wide range of topics, from pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial history to an image of Africa beyond Afro-pessimism, from political engagement and resistance, general values, business opportunities and scope for action to development cooperation and health education in the broadest sense.
