Update: The conference schedule plan is now online !!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 19th Afrikanistentag and the biennial conference of the VAD "Continuities, Dislocations and Transformations: Reflections on 50 Years of African Independence" are held conjointly in Mainz in April 2010. Afrikanistentag" will be held from 08.-10. April 2010 in Mainz, Germany. There is no overall theme for the conference. Papers should focus on African languages, dealing with any of the various aspects of their manifestation and representation. Each presentation should not exceed 20 minutes, 10 minutes are destined to discussion. The conference fee is 60 € (students 20 €). Mode of payment will be announced in November 2009. Venue: Forum Universitatis 6, Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz (-> Map) We regret that there is no conference budget for travel and hotel expenses. You will have to cover your own travel and accomodation costs. Accomodation has to be booked individually. After this date, payment can only be made in cash (Euro) on the first day of the conference. Please note that the conference fee is due on registration and that a separate invoice for the conference fee will not be provided. Cancellation and refund policy All Afrikanistentag 2010 conference cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing by 10 March 2010 to: afrikanistentag2010@uni-mainz.de The following conditions apply to refunds:    1. For cancellation up to 31 December: refund of € 50    2. For cancellations between 01.01.2010 and 10.03.2010: refund of € 20    3.
